Great guy! The Sagan of our times. Head of NASA? I think he would get bored of the job.

A great latter-day science-popularizer. We need lots more like him. Maybe not running NASA, but certainly telling people how important it can be.

Oldtire asks why not?
Well I say because Neil De-Gassy-Tyson hates Pluto, got that whole planetary definition badly wrong which brought astronomers into public disrepute, & comes across as a smug, arrogant, condescending, rude, up-himself piece of ....
Now that's my opinion of course but hey its true!

Pluto bashing, snide git. I can't stand him.
Vote Alan S.Stern instead! Or Phil Plait, (great blog & wide ranging thinker in this area.)
Or another idea how about we nominate John Glenn -Mercuery Seven and shuttle astronaut - I reckon he's still got that "Right Stuff" to lead & inspire & he's experienced in space & politics. (tried to vote for him - but it won't seem to work.)

Eloquent speaker and thinker. Perhaps not the best day to day manager. Could be NASA's Chief Evangelist.
